Time....where does it go?????

For disappearing acts, it's hard to beat what happens to the eight hours supposedly left after eight of sleep and eight of work.  ~Doug Larson
 TIME......

So, the time seems to just fly by in the summer doesn't it? A friend commented to me this afternoon that she was still waiting for a Testimonial.....Ooops! My only excuse is that life got in the way. We had commitments both days this weekend, a work party for hubby last night and basically no free time. So I apologize for the mix up. There never seem to be enough hours in the day to accomplish everything that needs to be done. Between a job, cleaning the house, cooking, grocery shopping, laundry, exercise, yard work, and paying bills, there never seems to be enough time for the real things. To my friends/family with children, I bow to you as I can't even begin to imagine where your hours go to.

I can't even truly complain as hubby does his own laundry, does the dishes when I cook and vacuumed tonight while I made dinner. But, sometimes, in order to have a life, we let the grass grow a little too long, eat a lot of salads, and slack on the vacuuming. But then the hairballs from our two fuzzy tenants start to form a colony and there's no choice but to do all these other things that get in the way of a life.

So, if I had unlimited hours in a day (heck even one extra would be nice), here are some of the things I would do:

  • Finish one of the 5 books I'm currently reading........I'm serious.

  • Email all of  the people I need to catch up with.
  • Clean out my linen closet so I can finally find what I'm looking for on the first try (I didn't say all of my choices would be fun.)
  • Download some new music on my iPod - anyone up for some recommendations?
  • Chain myself to my computer until I had at least 3 new chapters complete on the book.

  • Finish the scarf and blanket I started knitting this winter....before I forget how.
  • Finish the family reunion scrap book that I started last fall.....anyone else seeing a pattern here?
  • Sleep, pure, uninterrupted, blissful sleep......
  • Go jet skiing with hubby one more time before fall gets here.
  • Paint my nails.....after I find where the polish is hiding in the linen closet.
  • Print some of my gazillion photos and actually frame one or two.
  • Snuggle with one of my four footed friends.

  • Sit in a coffee shop, drinking a cup (or two!) and doing absolutely nothing.....
What would you do with an extra hour, or two....or twenty four???

  1. I vote for a nice cup of coffee by myself while reading a magazine. Then, a decadent nap! Great post!

  2. I am always amazed at the people who work 9-5 or more and still maintain a blog. I'm not sure I could have ever started blogging while I was working full time.

As for the vacuuming... my dogs think the dust bunnies are playmates. ;)

  3. FROM THE TWO OF US - Be darned if we were going to tell you TODAY was Thursday and you missed something on Tuesday - NOT us - Know how busy you are ! But wait till you get to retirement age and think you have lots of time NOW and commit to all kinds of projects, and wonder did I, we agree to do that ? You should follow our schedule since Johnny (your nephew) arrived, wow! Great fun but we both are running out of energy, YES, it is hell to get old.........But with him he keeps us young and laughing and on the go.....Must get in touch with you two and have a little conversation.....Love your blog keep the good news coming, very funny, pat the cats on the head and tell them the "usual".....
Bye for now, love from the TWO of US.

  4. @ Rachel - That's another great idea - catch up on a pile of magazines. I look forward to that every time I go to get my hair done....sigghhh - the little things :) And yes, it does seem the older I get the more decadent a nap seems.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  5. @ Barbara - It did seem easier in the beginning when you're brimming with ideas on what to blog about. :) Honestly if I had children I don't think I could do it. Oh and hairballs multiply when you are not looking. As Hubby was putting the vacuum away last night, one the size of a small child rolled by......

  6. @ The Two of Us - Just save your strength for hanging out with that youngun....we'll catch up soon enough. Give him a hug for us.

  7. I'm saving my strength for when that "youngun" comes home on Sunday! But seriously, we miss him lots....but know that he has been having a good time. I enjoy just sitting quietly reading a book or getting a massage!

  10. @ Jotter - Thanks for noticing the changes. In the beginning I was lucky if I could get a post to show up...LOL.

As for the more than one book at one time -I've always done this. It seems to be a pattern with me to start a new project before I am done with the first one. Plus, what I pick to read depends on my mood and sometimes I'm just not in the mood for the current book....either way, glad I am not the only one!
