TGIF......I don't know about you, but this has been a long week. One of those that makes you say "What a week, thank God it's Friday......I've talked about being grateful and the idea of a gratitude journal in another blog post, but I thought for today I would share the items that would make my grateful list. Sometimes it's the little things.....
Great neighbors - We have a group of neighbors who are very close and very supportive of each other. (I must point out that one couple doesn't officially live in the neighborhood but they are adopted neighbors, based on the amount of time we see them.) They all take turns doing things like mowing each others lawn, snow blowing sidewalks, taking in garbage cans, and mail. They feed our cats, give us veggies from their gardens, let us use their pool and have impromptu dinners. This week one of the neighbors is in the hospital fighting a bad case of pneumonia and will probably be there until next week. During tonight's impromptu dinner, I offered to cook something for the husband so he wouldn't have to worry about meals. This led to all of us discussing meals that would be brought over when his wife returns home so that neither one of them will need to worry about food. After dinner, the men all made their way to our house to help Hubby apply sealant to our newly cemented driveway. Many hands make light work is the saying.....I'm thankful for the many hands and for the caring of all of them. Thank you - Samir and Candi, Debbie and Burt, Bill and Denise. Come home soon Debbie!
And as usual the 2 who always make my list of things I'm thankful for......
What are you thankful for today?
FROM JUST ME Let me tell you about something to be thankful for--I borrowed a small trailer to haul my lawnmower to mow a good friends lawn. When I first went to get the trailer the ball hitch on my truck was too big and very rusty, so I went to a garage that does all my repair work and they tried to get it off, but were unable to, do to the rust, told me to come back next morning and they would us a torch to heat it and get it off and replace it with a smaller one I had. Next day everything went well, hitch replaced, large lawn mowed after eight (8) hours, mower returned home, trailer returned - now the bad part - as I put trailer back in its spot about 7:30 PM suddenly was attacked by "Yellow Jackets" and I took off running as fast as I could but was still stung (9) times over my upper body, was able to get in truck and get out of there but still had bees in truck after me and killed two inside and let another (4) out the window (thank God for electric windows) THANKFUL got home OK hurting but no adverse reaction to the bee stings - Scary, still itching from them. WHY ME LORD ?ReplyDelete
Love your blogs..............
@ Me - Wow!I would also add that I would be thankful for.....the ability to outrun (mostly) a swarm of angry bees, the fact that the truck started, and NO ALLERGIC REACTION! So glad you are okay. We'll check in with you this weekend. :)ReplyDelete
I have lived in several nice and friendly neighborhoods throughout my life. We had good times together and bad times as well. Some of the neighbors have become my lifelong friends and we still keep in touch. I could tell you stories of what went in the neighborhoods, but that would take up too many pages or maybe a book. LOL Glad that you live a nice neighborhood.ReplyDelete
@ Anonymous - That would probably make a great book idea :) We've all experienced bad neighbors or heard horror stories from others, but it's such a blessing when you have really good ones. :)ReplyDelete
Thanks for sharing.....
We started out in a nice neighborhood and then it went south! We hope to end up in a nice neighborhood very soon so we will see what happens. My two furry friends are also two that I am thankful for (besides my son and husband). They certainly keep us entertained!ReplyDelete
@ Jackie - I hear ya....just means it wasn't meant to be. You'll find the right one. :) I'm thankful for you guys too.....ReplyDelete
You are a very lucky lady....let me know if any houses go up for sale in your neighborhood.ReplyDelete
@ Jotter - We like to think we're pretty lucky....I'll be on the lookout for your new house. :)ReplyDelete
How wonderful for you to have such great neighbors. A fine example for all of us to wish for ;-)ReplyDelete
@ Michele - We think so. :) Wish everyone could be so lucky :)ReplyDelete
